Real-world expertise
Thirty years of mold, moisture, insulation, and construction work in Maine homes. That is the raw material most CE providers simply do not have.
Maine Real Estate CE Program Concept
We're building a professional continuing education experience designed to transform real-world home inspection, construction, and remediation expertise into meaningful education for Maine real estate professionals.
This is more than an online course. It's the foundation for a scalable education platform that can strengthen professional relationships, demonstrate industry expertise, and position your company as a trusted resource for Maine's real estate community.
How the transformation works
Course #1 is a proposed course being designed for submission to the Maine Real Estate Commission. It is not approved continuing education unless and until the Commission grants approval.
The Opportunity
Every active Maine licensee has to complete continuing education, and most of those hours are electives they choose themselves. That is an audience already looking for good courses, in subjects where Mattra has genuine field expertise.
21Hours
Every two years
Maine active associate brokers, brokers, and designated brokers complete 21 clock hours of approved continuing education every two years.
3Hours
Mandatory core course
A mandatory core course is part of that requirement, set by the Commission and taken by every licensee.
18Hours
Open elective hours
The remaining hours create the opportunity: approved elective continuing education that licensees select for themselves.
Construction is among the subject areas recognized as appropriate for Maine real estate continuing education when the material is relevant to real estate brokerage and to the licensee's professional responsibilities. That is the lane this program is designed to sit in.
01
Thirty years of mold, moisture, insulation, and construction work in Maine homes. That is the raw material most CE providers simply do not have.
02
Moisture and inspection findings come up constantly in residential transactions. Realtors have to respond to them without overstepping their role.
03
The professionals taking the course are the same professionals who advise homeowners on who to call.
The education stays pointed at what a real estate professional is responsible for: recognizing concerns, using the right terminology, communicating with clients, and knowing when to bring in a qualified professional.
Phase One
Rather than building a catalog up front, Phase One develops one flagship course and takes it all the way through approval. What Mattra is left with is considerably more than a single course.
Course #1
One flagship course, taken all the way through approval
A complete curriculum
Objectives, content, and assessments built on Mattra’s expertise
A branded learning platform
Mattra’s own environment, not a rented shelf on someone else’s
A tested approval pathway
The submission process run once, and understood
A professional learner experience
Registration through certificate, handled properly
A repeatable framework
So the next course starts from an established process rather than a blank page
Every assumption about format, seat time, documentation, and reviewer expectations gets tested once, on a course we control, before it is repeated.
The templates, the documentation set, the LMS configuration, the assessment model, and the submission package all become reusable assets owned by your program.
One approved course becomes the blueprint for everything that follows.
The Flagship Course
A working concept for Course #1. Scope, length, and final CE hours are established during design and confirmed through the Maine approval process.

What Maine Real Estate Professionals Need to Know
Full curriculum design happens in Phase One.
From Field Knowledge to Approved Education
Mattra brings the expertise. We turn it into an approved course. Both parts are essential, and they are different jobs.
The technical knowledge, real examples, and field experience the course is built on.
The transaction context and professional-practice lens that keeps it inside the licensee’s world.
The instructional design, assessments, platform, and compliance work that turn it into an approved course.

We build
This is the work that turns field knowledge into a course a state regulator will approve, and it is the part that takes professional instructional design.
How It Gets Built and Approved
An approved CE course is not a video upload. It is a documented development process with a state review at the end, and it is the part we handle.
Confirm the provider identity, select the topic, and document why Maine licensees need this education. The Commission expects the need to be evidenced, not asserted.
Measurable learning objectives, instructional strategy, and a timed course structure that maps content to real clock hours.
Build the content with your experts: field examples, transaction scenarios, learning activities, and assessments that hold up to review.
Develop the course inside the branded learning platform, then configure the learner experience, progress tracking, testing, and completion requirements.
Internal quality, accessibility, and compliance review, then prepare and submit the approval package to the Maine Real Estate Commission.
Provide reviewer access, respond to any requested revisions, and prepare the approved course for Maine licensees.
Development includes the curriculum documentation, instructional timing, assessments, platform configuration, reviewer access, completion requirements, and submission materials Maine reviews. Approval is designed in from the start rather than assembled at the end.
The Digital Learning Experience
The asynchronous learning environment is designed to track completion and support the administrative requirements that come with delivering continuing education.

Built into the platform
The platform runs the program, not just the course.
Maine asynchronous CE requires a comprehensive final examination and an 85% passing score. The exam, the answer key, and the completion rules are designed together.
Instructional clock hours must represent actual instruction. Quiz and examination time does not count toward instructional hours, so the timed outline is built accordingly.
Discussion & Engagement
Apply concepts to realistic situations Realtors encounter.
Ask learners to evaluate information and make professional judgments.
Connect Mattra’s expertise to actual property and transaction situations.
Professional learning that applies Mattra’s expertise to situations Realtors actually encounter, not passive click-through CE.
The Principle
The goal is for a Realtor to finish the course thinking: they know what they're talking about. I'm keeping their information.
The course has to stand on its own as real professional education. No sales content inside the instruction, no pitch disguised as a lesson. The business benefit comes from Realtors experiencing Mattra's expertise firsthand, which only works if the education is genuinely good.
Why This Benefits Mattra
Rather than competing for attention with another ad, Mattra offers something licensees actually need. The course is presented under Mattra's provider identity, so the expertise on display is yours.

What the relationship looks like
Your company doesn't just advertise to Realtors. Your company educates them.
This is an authority and relationship strategy, not a lead-generation promise. No course can guarantee that a licensee becomes a customer. What it can do is put Mattra's expertise in front of the exact professionals who refer this kind of work.
Extending the Relationship
The research and expertise behind the first course does not have to stop at the course.
The same material can support educational articles, checklists, Realtor guides, and email content on Mattra's own site, building a library that keeps working after the course ends.
Once the CE requirements are met, learners can be offered optional access to further Mattra resources. That sits clearly outside the instructional course, which is what keeps the education credible.
Free CE gives Mattra a reason to talk to an entire office rather than one agent at a time, and a natural opening with brokerage leadership.
Where This Can Go
Once the first course establishes the platform, development framework, and approval workflow, that infrastructure can support the development of additional CE topics based on Mattra’s expertise.
The one course being designed, built, and submitted first. Everything behind it becomes reusable.
Possible later topics · Not part of Phase 1
Phase One
Phase One establishes the first flagship course, the learning platform, the approval framework, and the foundation Mattra can build on over time.
The natural next step is a conversation about scope and timing.
